High Sierra 1.5 GPM Low Flow Review
The reigning champ of low flow shower heads is here and it’s better than ever.
If you’re looking for an outstanding shower that will save you water and money the High Sierra 1.5 GPM low flow shower head is exactly what you need. The first time you turn it on you’ll think there was a mistake, “There’s no way this thing only puts out 1.5 GPM”. But it’s not a mistake. Regardless of the water pressure in your home this shower head will perform better than most regular water wasting showers. Its patented nozzle design will ensure you get maximum pressure and full body coverage all while saving you money. In fact, the average person will save $50 per year on water and heating costs, which means after a few months it practically pays for itself.
If you want to conserve water without sacrificing your shower experience, the High Sierra 1.5 GPM low flow shower head might be the one for you.
Ultra low-flow with 1.5 GPM or 1.8 GPM models
The High Sierra 1.5 GPM low flow shower head is the worlds premier low flow shower head. It comes in two water saving versions: 1.5 GPM and 1.8 GPM. Both will save you a ton of money on water and energy costs while providing you with an excellent shower that feels like a much higher flow rate. Unlike some other water saving shower heads that just barely trickle out enough water to get you wet the High Sierra head uses patented technology (more on that below) to give you a full blast of water that’s sure to satisfy.
Water Sense certified
High Sierra 1.5 GPM low flow shower heads are a cut above the rest and have the certifications to prove it. Being Water Sense certified is more than just a meaningless sticker on the box. It’s a way to show that this product will live up to its water saving claims by being independently verified to meet EPA standards. In other words, it will save you money. The average family could save up to 2900 gallons per year by installing a Water Sense certified shower head, which translates to 370 kilowatt hours of electricity annually. That doesn’t seem like much but if every household in America installed a Water Sense certified shower head, we could save $2.2 billion in water bills and $2.6 billion in heating costs. Now it’s really adding up.
4 stunning finishes to pick
Whether you’re bathroom design is modern, contemporary, classic or whatever, a High Sierra 1.5 GPM low flow shower head will fit all of the above. With 4 stylish metal finishes to choose from there’s something for everyone. Pick between classic chrome, polished brass, brushed nickel or (my favorite) oil rubbed bronze.
Solid metal build
These water efficient shower heads don’t just look and feel amazing they are made out of solid metal so they’re built to last. Many shower heads out there have a thin coating to make them look like metal and that’s fine, but all it takes is one scratch for that coating to start chipping away and before you know it, it looks like crap. The High Sierra 1.5 GPM low flow shower head features high quality materials with a mostly metal design (except the plastic slash guard) to ensure you wont have to buy another shower head for a long, long time.
Will not clog
Most water saving shower heads out there have the same spray design – a bunch of tiny holes that, over time, build up with scale and lime deposits to give you an uneven spray. The High Sierra 1.5 GPM low flow is different. It features a patented design that prevents clogging to give you a consistent spray time after time. It’s sort of like putting your thumb over a water hose to spray your friends in the summer.
Save money and water
Of course the main reason to buy a water efficient shower head is to conserve water and save money. With the High Sierra 1.5 GPM low flow shower head you won’t be disappointed. A single person can expect to save up to $50 per year on water and heating costs and up to 1700 gallons of water! If you have a family or roommates that really starts to add up. Installing one of these energy efficient shower heads is not only the environmentally right thing to do, it will also pay for itself from the savings after just a few months.
Made in the USA
This water saving shower head is designed, machined and assembled in California so you know you are getting a quality piece of equipment. Plus you’re keeping Americans employed and helping the economy. Is there anything this shower head can’t do?
High Sierra actually listens to customers
After reading hundreds of reviews dating back to 2010 I noticed a pattern. Whenever a customer had a problem, High Sierra would address it immediately and take action to correct it.
For example: Earlier models did not feature the plastic spray guard and customers were complaining that the spray was too wide the further down it got, getting past the shower curtain and soaking the floor. They fixed it.
Another complaint was that there was no on/off switch to stop the spray while lathering up. High Sierra listened and introduced a new model with a trickle valve for those who really want to save water.
What other company does that?
What’s not so good?
A bit noisy
I had to really stretch to find something even slightly negative about this product and even the one thing I did notice is a rarity. I didn’t have this problem when testing it out but some have noticed a high-pitched whistling noise when they turn it on. This is typically caused by the reduced flow and higher velocity flowing through the pipes.
If you have this problem, David Malcolm, founder of the company suggests contacting them for a lower velocity replacement.
The High Sierra 1.5 GPM low flow shower head shattered all of my expectations. It offers a full high pressure flow that rivals any regular 2.5 GPM shower head while still managing to look sleek and stylish. The solid metal build is exceptional and with so many finishes to choose from, deciding which one will be the hardest part. If you want to save money and conserve water you need to get this shower head – it practically pays for itself! You won’t regret it.
